Quick answer: Give one gift per character per day, use renewable liked gifts for routine friendship, and save loved gifts for birthdays. Check the Social menu before spending a rare artifact, ore, or quest item.
Gift table for every character

Warning: reveal context for late-story gift recipients
Caldarus and Seridia have progression requirements tied to major story content. Some of their best gifts also come from late mine areas. Do not sell or gift Dragon-Forged materials until the related main-story requirements are complete; a birthday bonus is not worth blocking progression.
How gifting works
- You can give each character one gift per day.
- Talking and gifting are separate interactions, so do both when building friendship efficiently.
- Loved gifts give the strongest routine response; liked gifts are usually better for repeatable daily use.
- Birthday gifts receive a substantial bonus, making that the best time for a scarce loved item.
- Disliked and hated gifts waste the day's gift opportunity and can reduce friendship.
- The Social menu records discovered preferences and should be treated as the final in-game authority.
Gifting is not the only source of relationship progress. Conversations, festivals, requests, heart events, and weekend dates all matter. A cheap item delivered consistently will usually outperform an expensive item that makes you postpone visits.
Best gift strategy by game stage
Early game
Use forage, common crops, wood, basic ore, low-value bugs, and simple cooked food. Donate the first copy of an unknown fish, insect, artifact, or flower before gifting a duplicate. Do not give away wood, stone, ore, ingots, or quest items when a town repair is waiting for the same resource.
Midgame
Build a small gift chest with separate stacks for the people on your normal route. Cooking becomes more practical once ingredients are stable. Animal products also create repeatable options for Hayden and Reina, while upgraded mine access supplies March, Olric, Balor, and later vendors.
Birthdays and late game
Reserve loved gifts for the birthday calendar. By late game, high-quality ore, rare cooked dishes, and special artifacts are easier to replace, but story tablets, Dragon-Forged materials, and missing museum items still outrank friendship efficiency.
Gifts you should usually keep
| Item category | Keep it when… | Safe to gift when… |
|---|---|---|
| First museum copy | The museum set is incomplete | The item is already donated |
| Ore and ingots | A tool, armor, shop, or town upgrade is pending | Required upgrade stacks are protected |
| Quest items | The request or story step is active | The quest no longer needs it |
| Seasonal forage | It is needed for cooking, crafting, or a set | You have duplicates and the season is not ending |
| Rare artifacts | The museum or story may need them | Donation and story needs are confirmed complete |
| Cooked dishes | Ingredients are difficult to replace | You can cook another without disrupting profit |
Efficient daily gift route
- Choose three to five characters whose friendship matters now; do not attempt the full town every day.
- Match the route to chores you already perform: March near smithing, Celine near town, Hayden near ranching, and Reina near the inn.
- Carry one backup liked gift in case the intended item is needed for a quest.
- Talk before leaving, then confirm the gift response if the preference is not yet recorded.
- Add birthdays to the farm calendar one week ahead.
Gift guide FAQ
What is the best universal gift?
There is no reliable loved gift shared by everyone. Common fruit, flowers, wood, ore, and cooked food cover many characters, but the correct item still depends on the recipient.
Can I give more than one gift per day?
Not to the same character. After one accepted gift, save the next item for another day.
Should I always give loved gifts?
No. Use cheap liked gifts for routine progress and loved gifts for birthdays or when a route needs a deliberate push.
Why is a gift missing from this table?
This page intentionally gives one practical liked option and one loved example per character. Open the relevant character guide or check the Social menu for the full discovered preference list.
